Ace Combat 8 Mouse and Keyboard Controls
Raising sensitivity may not fix mouse recentring. Players report mouse steering returning toward the centre and feeling slow even with high sensitivity. There is no universal fix here. Use a short, repeatable flight to find out whether the problem follows the mouse, the control mode or frame-rate stutter before changing several settings at once.

Match what the aircraft does
- Mouse keeps returning toward the centre
- One testRepeat a short flight using keyboard flight bindings, with the same control mode and camera.
- What to do nextIf the keyboard responds normally, concentrate on the mouse input path rather than changing graphics settings.
- Even high mouse sensitivity feels slow
- One testRecord the current sensitivity, then change only that setting and repeat the same manoeuvre.
- What to do nextIf the response barely changes, stop raising the slider. Higher sensitivity is not a guaranteed cure for recentring.
- Both mouse and keyboard feel delayed
- One testWatch whether flight response slows at the same time as visible frame hitches.
- What to do nextInput lag accompanied by stutter also needs a performance check; it is not enough to blame the mouse.
- The camera moves but the aircraft does not turn as expected
- One testCheck which bindings control the camera and which control pitch, roll and yaw.
- What to do nextCamera movement and flight control are different actions. Compare one action at a time.
Run a controlled input comparison
- Save your starting point. Take a screenshot of your bindings and sensitivity. Stay in the unmodified game for this test. Do not delete configuration files or install a mapping mod to diagnose the original response.
- Choose a short, familiar flight. Use a campaign section where you can safely repeat a turn. Keep the same aircraft, camera and Standard or Expert control mode. A different mode changes how sideways input turns or rolls the jet.
- Try the mouse, then keyboard flight bindings. Compare pitch, roll and yaw separately. Read the keys assigned in your own options rather than copying defaults from an AC7 guide. Also check throttle, brake and weapon bindings before attempting combat.
- Change one setting and repeat. If you adjust sensitivity, keep the other variables fixed. Restore the starting value if it does not help. If you already own a compatible controller, it can provide another input baseline without buying hardware.
Make a steering report reproducible
Include your mouse model, platform, control mode, sensitivity and a screenshot of the flight bindings. Describe the action you attempt, what the aircraft actually does and whether the same manoeuvre works with keyboard input. A short clip showing the movement is more useful than a report that only says the controls feel bad.
The mouse-control discussion is a place to compare the same symptoms. Check whether a suggested change actually helps your setup; repeated complaints do not establish a tested fix. Keep a working input option available while waiting for improvements.
